Seven of Swords

Known also as the Lord of Unstable Effort, and aligned with the Moon in Seven of SwordsAquarius, the Seven of Swords represents negative expectation, trying too long for too little result and the outcome is a feeling of despondency.

The Moon is immersed in the past and Aquarius is concerned with the future, so here we have a conflict of focus.

The Suit of Swords refer to the mental processes and in particular the ability of the mind to either create or destroy possibilities. There is a popular acronym from computer science that originated in the 60's that is GIGO which means, Garbage In, Garbage Out. The quality of information you input into your mind governs the quality of information and experience that comes out. If you want quality of experience you must ensure quality of thought. Or as my nan would put it Ask a silly question, get a silly answer. So start to ask better questions in your life, and you cannot but get better answers.

This card tells you it is time to take control of your thoughts and by doing that your future results. Most people in the rational world are caught in the cycle of fear, which is a need for security, a need to be sure that today will be like yesterday and tomorrow will be like today. When you decide to break out of that mould, then new possibilities appear, and it is time for you to contemplate new possibilities because your expectations have until now been built on what has made you feel safe.

Traditionally this card might show up as bad luck, or things turning out in a way that you had hoped they wouldn't. The normal reaction is to get upset, get even or blame those involved. However, the advice with this card is to use diplomacy and to take the higher ground and therefore not get caught up in the "he said, she saids" that characterise so many disappointing situations around misunderstandings. The influence of this card will pass, although the damage to relationships and friendships will take longer to heal.

As this card is of the Element of Air, it is considered rather unstable, as is the number seven, so the result is restlessness, agitation and change.

And yet this card has a positive aspect. It brings with it the uncomfortable feelings and irritations that compel us to change - the old ways are moving out and a new breeze is preparing to come through. The level at which you resist it will be equivalent to the level that you experience the winds of change.
