I must learn to love the fool in me the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries - Theodore Isaac Rubin
The card of The Fool is also known as the Spirit of Aether and has affinity with the Element of Air. His ruling planet is Uranus, and he represents change, adventure and anarchy.
The Fool is number 0 in the Tarot, so you could say he is outside of the rules that the rest of us must follow. It is through the Major Arcana that The Fool traverses and the characters that he meets along his way describes his journey from innocence to experience.
The Fool must journey on an upward spiral, and so it is when we live an examined life. If we go through life blindly, taking events and people, fortunes and misfortunes and everything in between as if we were disconnected from them, as if they were happening to us without our consent or without feeling that we have any say in the matter, then we will always be miserable since we then believe we are at the mercy of a fickle fate.
We will live in fear and clutch every little bit of certainty about tomorrow that we can find. But the journey of The Fool is really about taking each experience he encounters and adding it to his knapsack, his tools, his experiences and everything that he learns along the way - it all enriches him and makes him more than he was when he started off.
And so it is in life - if you go through life without taking on the lessons and making yourself better by each experience, and being kind to yourself in the process, then you are missing out on the wonder and magic of what life is really about.
When The Fool turns up for you in a reading, as he has today, he is telling you that it is yet another opportunity to have a wonderful adventure, but you must be willing to take the good with the bad and make a meaning out of everything you encounter that will build you up, and not as a reason to give up or not try anymore.
When you step out of the confines of your old life, you have the opportunity to create whatever you choose for your life, for your family and for your future.
