Justice – VIII

JusticeThe card of Justice is the Daughter of the Lords of Truth and Ruler of the Balance. It is ruled by Libra and represents a return to balance, karma restored and peace after a long struggle.

Justice shows a female figure blindfolded with a set of scales (a feminine symbol) that indicates the fine-reasoning and acuity required in order to deliver a fair outcome, one that is not swayed by appearances.

It also points to the scales of Maat, the Egyptian goddess who weighed the heart of a departed person - if it weighed more than a feather then the person could not move on to a happy afterlife.

She is also depicted with a sword (a masculine symbol) and this represents the mental realm of ideas and reason, and in the hands of female Justice, it symbolises intellect and intelligence tempered by emotional honesty.

When the card of Justice appears in a reading, it is time to restore balance, order and clarity to one's life. It often turns up when an important decision needs to be made, especially when you have reached an important crossroads.  It is time to put emotional reasoning aside and lay out the pros and cons of what must occur.

If you are unable to come to a rational decision yourself then it is advised to seek the advice of a trusted expert or friend who is clear-headed and fair. This card also says that you should not be swayed by the emotional arguments and manipulative reasoning of others at this time, if this comes up for you.

Lay out the facts, take your time and arrive at your own reasoned decision - do not be hurried by the agendas or timetable of those who have only their own interests at heart.

Traditionally it points to fair decisions in legal matters, as well as important contracts that must be executed which will have an important effect on your future.

It can sometimes point to a marriage contract or a business partnership.
