The Hermit is also called the Prophet of the Eternal and the Magus of the Voice of Power. He has affinity with Virgo and represents going inward to find one's inner light and the discovery of the harvest of internal riches. When The Hermit turns up in a reading, he turns your gaze inward to an world that you were previously unaware of - you may have suspected the depths to which your inner most being was capable of realising, but this is merely scratching the surface. Until now you have been concerned with outer appearances and values, and while these have been very useful and even diverting in the past, now they seem shallow by comparison to what is contained within you. Here we are talking about meaning, and a life without true meaning is a pale counterfeit to what is truly important - to you. To those who are not ready to take this innermost journey, it sounds fantastical and even strange - not something you would willingly seek out. And yet the call is unmistakable. If you have been feeling dissatisfied with life, as if nothing has any value or meaning, and the concerns of friends, family and acquaintances seem pointless to you, there is a reason for this. Often there is a feeling in your daily life of boredom, low mood and even depression, and yet the dream life is full of activity and movement. This is a sign that there is a lot going on under the surface and you just need to be still, to pay attention to your feelings and moods and not feel discouraged. A breakthrough will come, not immediately but soon enough. Stay with it and don't fight it - take this time to enjoy your own company and thoughts and don't let the external world and all its myriad concerns and issues draw you back in before you are ready. The world will still be here when you get back, but you will have gained so much from the time you spend in withdrawal. “In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion." ― Albert Camus Image from "Crystal Visions Tarot" © Jennifer Galasso
