The Queen of Wands is also the Queen of the Thrones of Flame, and is aligned with the fiery signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. She represents self-knowledge, compassion and loyalty. This Queen is born of Fire - she is passionate, fiercely loyal and not afraid to face danger and adversity. Her friends and family can rely on her to look out for them and she makes a formidable foe if you get on the wrong side of her. She knows how to have fun and to laugh things off - she is not one to dwell on what might have been - she is more a woman of action. She knows that often it is better to move towards what you want rather than dwell on why you don't yet have it. Her energy is relentless, and although she may seem to exist in a whirlwind of chaos, it is an organised chaos where one task or concern dovetails neatly into the next so that if you were to observe her activity from a great height, there would be a symmetry and synchronicity to her activity that is inspired. Friendship, a true meeting of minds, and faith in what she stands for are all qualities that this Queen brings to the table. However, when she is not in her right balance she can seem disruptive, disorganised, controlling and her effect can even be claustrophobic or smothering. But this is only because she has forgotten or lost the thread of her own vision and just needs a reminder to get her back on course. When this Queen turns up...

Known also as the Prince of the Chariot of Fire, the King of Wands represents forthcoming changes, removing negativity and growth despite obstacles. The King of Wands is the Spirit of Fire - enthusiasm, dynamism and adventure. As a Fire Court Card, he is fiery, enigmatic and dynamic. He will sweep you up in his plans and if you don't get with the program and keep the pace he may leave you behind. As a King, he represents authority, power and magnetism. Not really pragmatic, still, he knows how to win others to his cause. The King of Wands is an agent of change, he introduces new ideas that may seem foreign and perhaps suspect because of that. But if you embrace the energy of this King, your life will be enriched beyond measure. He represents excitement that blows away the cobwebs of boredom and ennui, and if you have ever wished for something different and beyond the mundane, then hang on to your hat and be prepared to have your wish fulfilled. As a person he is a robust, handsome presence, bold and exciting. He is determined that everyone in his presence is transported to a new understanding of life, love and what is really important. He will usually turn up like a whirlwind, irresistible in his enthusiasm and he infects everyone who then wonders what on earth they have been wasting their lives being safe and bored. He often will represent a foreigner, someone whose ideas, habits and beliefs are alien to your own, yet strangely attractive and compelling because of that. And of course, as with all...

The Page of Swords is also known as the Princess of the Rushing Winds and Lotus of the Palace of Air and represents clarity from confusion, news and ideas. This Page is rebellious, impatient and eager to cut through anything that gets in the way of progress and excitement. He is also clever and witty. He represents freedom of thought, especially those that break free from stale and obsolete beliefs and ways of thinking. If he is impeded or not given intellectual free reign, whether by authority, superiors or his own beliefs, he can become spiteful and petty. The key to moving out of this is to embrace change and fearlessness. If referring to a child or young person, this Page is changeable, engaging and knows how to charm with words. He enjoys movement and sports, but he excels in games of cleverness and wit. Whenever this Page turns up in a reading, he brings news - letters, phone calls, emails and verbal news that brings changes to your life. On a deeper level, he heralds changes of beliefs, mental processes and new learnings. There is much to be learned through communication and conversations - both deep and superficial. There is a rebelliousness of ideas and a desire to overthrow the old order with something new and fresh. The Page is an immature energy, so often this energy will misfire until it finds its feet and becomes more directed so it is advised to take your ideas and give them the benefit of time and maturity to get the most traction and benefit from them. There is a need...

The Knight of Swords is sometimes called the Lord of the Winds and the Breezes, and King of the Spirits of Air. His affinity is with the air signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. As with all Knights, this one represents movement, and since we have the Element of Air it is movement in the realm of thoughts, ideas, beliefs and messages. Traditionally this card prepares you for some news, this can be around negotiations, contracts and can be surprising or unwelcome. There is a need to prepare yourself, make sure you have all the facts and not be caught out without all bases covered. There may be someone around you now that wants to trip you up and will use reason and logic in order to do it - this is the card of the Animus who uses their cutting words and thoughts to make you doubt yourself. If you have done your homework and are prepared, then the Knight of Swords can mean you need to get ready to move forward, as the news you receive will be something you have been waiting for, but you will need to be quick. There are no delays tolerated with this card's influence. As a person the Knight of Swords is quick-witted, charming, clever and sometimes cruel, or it may be he is merely thoughtless. He has no time or inclination to get mired in emotions, or attached to things or people, and he needs to be forever stimulated mentally in order to be at his best. If he becomes petty-minded or impatient, then it means he is not sufficiently...

The Knight of Swords is referred to as the Lord of the Winds and the Breezes and King of the Spirits of Air, and he represents the creative aspect of mind and intuitive thinking. He bestows clear perception and freedom from limiting beliefs. He brandishes his sword as he flies along on his steed and there is nothing that will stop or delay him from his purpose. This refers to the quality of a new idea that can overtake you and you cannot stop until you pursue it to its end. As with all the Swords, the ideas that are born can lead to inspiration or conflict and so the danger is to avoid being callous or insensitive while pursuing your purpose. This Knight heralds swift and unmistakable changes to routine and life's ordinary patterns. What starts out as an inspired idea has the potential to sweep all before it and uproot your life and create much disorder. The lesson for you here is to learn to be flexible with change, to embrace change or at least not be totally disrupted by it. Changes are not always bad, but change is often necessary and uncomfortable because if we are left to decide when we change we would probably want to stay right where we are as we have become accustomed to the comfort of routine and certainty. If this Knight comes into your life as a person, he is brilliant and inventive and attractively compelling, but also a little cold and callous. He has the air sign qualities associated with Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, and so embodies the winds...

In her best self she is happy and confident and will share her wisdom and strength with anyone she feels who may need or ask for it. However, as we have seen in other cards of this Suit, the Sword is a two-edged blade. It can be a weapon to harm or defend, or a tool to progress one's plans. Since the Swords deal with thoughts and the mental realm, they always indicate how the thoughts that we choose will dictate the course of our experience. When this Queen appears in a reading for you, she can represent a woman who is or will be important to you.
