Known also as the Queen of the Thrones of Flame, the Queen of Wands represents warmth, pleasure and loyalty and is depicted in antiquity as the fiery goddesses of old, whose chariots were drawn by lions. Ruled by the Element of Fire, she represents the life-giving properties of the Sun in her benevolent aspect, and the destructive power of flame when in her detriment. She also represents the loyalty of the heart and the power of the imagination, when in its creative and artistic aspect. She is capable of holding a spiritual vision to its fulfillment and she does this with her strength of will and ability to hold fast to her values. This Queen has boundless reserves of energy, and she will be found running errands for the family or multitasking and juggling her career or organising her friends' love lives - she is tireless. If she cannot find an outlet for her energy she will likely be causing trouble and strife so it is best to have a goal to direct this energy towards. If you were to observe her from a distance without knowing her, you would conclude that her life is one big chaotic drama, but she knows the order of things and can multitask like nobody else, so keep your opinions to yourself if you please! However, the chaotic energy can sometimes take its toll and attention to detail may be lacking somewhat - and who can blame her, she is Fire and this element will not be delayed and has no patience for pernickity-ness. To avoid any problems however where attention to detail...

Known also as Lord of the Flame and Lightning and King of the Spirits of Fire, the Knight of Wands represents the joy of life and creative power. The Knight of Wands brings swift action, sudden news and travel, even a change of residence. He represents the urge to experience new places, faces, activities. He likes to start new projects and is full of the energy of enthusiasm and an urge to keep moving. His energy is wonderful when you need to create change and mix things up, however he is not known for stability or staying power. There may be a somewhat rushed and over-eager impulse to change something in your life, and if heeded, may lead to regrets if you haven't examined the pros and cons of such a change. You may find an opportunity that seems too good to be true, so don't rush into it without doing your due diligence and even seeking advice from someone who has knowledge in these areas. So when this Knight turns up, it is best to harness the exuberant energy and vitality that he brings, especially if there is travel, a move or a new direction you are wanting to take - he will help you get there. It may be that he turns up as an individual in your life which will spur you into action and lead you where he goes. Or the energy of this Knight may be experienced as an inner change, a sudden impulse to move and switch things up. Overall, this is a time to embrace life, breathe in opportunity and expand your...

The Knight of Wands is known as Lord of the Flame and Lightning and King of the Spirits of Fire. He represents fiery enthusiasm, impatience and dynamic change. The Knight of Wands is the essence of Fire making its way in the world. How does the Element of Fire make its presence felt? It is boldly, brashly, bravely and sometimes in a foolhardy way. As with all the Knights, this one brings movement, and traditionally he represents a change of residence, although he can also bring a change in career or travel. When this Knight turns up as a person, he is ambitious, adventurous, exciting and will turn your life upside down, especially if you have been living in a measured and safe way. He may be a young man or an older man who hasn't quite grown up. He can be extremely unreliable and foolhardy and be inclined to action without thought for the consequences. One thing is for certain, and that is that you will not find him dull and you will never be bored with the energy accompanying his entrance. He can make promises that he is unable or unwilling to keep - I guess he has a short attention span and is always moving towards the next horizon to be conquered. He can also herald a time in your life where you need to take risks, leave the comfort of your safe harbour behind you and strike out on your own adventure. Where in your life have you been stifled and stuck in a rut? This Knight will show you the vastness and excitement of new horizons...

Known also as the Lord of Perfected Work and aligned with Venus in Aries, the Four of Wands represents successful completion of a cycle, and the beginning of a new one. Venus values love and relationship, while Aries values new beginnings, so the time is ripe for a new phase in your relationships, and in your love life. Tensions are resolved and there is a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. There is a free flowing energy with this placement, buoyed along by recent success having overcome a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. Relationships are working beautifully, differences are appreciated instead of being a source of antagonism, and communication is flowing favourably. If you feel that there is something still to be resolved then now is a good time to approach a reconciliation or smoothing over any misunderstandings. This is a joyful card, the energy is just right to allow you to feel that your work and other efforts are worthwhile and important, and there is time too, to enjoy the fruits of past labours. It is early success and while it is not the end of the road by any means, you are encouraged towards future accomplishments and support in your work and creative projects. Four is a foundational number, the first of the quaternal cards of completion and balance and so this card tells you that what you have laid down now is also setting up your future for abundance and prosperity. There will be ups and downs along the way naturally, but you can be sure that the measures you put in place now are assuring your future happiness...

The Eight of Wands is also called the Lord of Swiftness. It brings in the energy of Mercury in Sagittarius and represents clear communication, overcoming misunderstanding and swift changes. Mercury is movement and communication, ideas and speed while Sagittarius mixes in the drive for freedom, expansion and inspiration. There is an impulse to forward motion, to growth, and freedom of movement, devoid of burdens. Your world is about to be shaken up, and in a good way. You may have felt that life has become stagnated, stilted and routine, and you no longer wish to be caged by convention and self-imposed rules. You want to break out of your safety zones and high fences, and you feel energy and enthusiasm for change . The Eight of Wands often signifies a journey, usually over water to places that will serve to broaden your mind and move your senses. Wands are a creative suit, and so the urge to create is inherent in this card - and it will be an urge to create new experiences based on the expanded knowledge that you will connect with. There is a sense of power and boldness and a willingness to take risks. You want to know what lies beyond far horizons, and those horizons may be physical, mental or spiritual. This means moving beyond your established comfort zones which usually brings some fear of change, but you are willing to experience a little discomfort to see what lies on the other side of your established world. A good time to tune into your intuition and imagination. The power of this card is in...

Known as the Lord of Swiftness, the Eight of Wands is also aligned with Mercury in Sagittarius, and represents clear and direct communications, especially after a time of miscommunications and dramas. Mercury is the messenger and Sagittarius is the truth-teller, so this combination results in the dissolving of misunderstandings caused by muddy communications. When this card appears for you, it is time to put your skates on, as events are about to take on a speed and urgency that will make your head spin. You may have found that all sorts of hindrances were blocking your progress recently (and with Mercury Retrograde prevailing recently, I can quite see why!) and so that is all about to change. Letters, contracts, travel plans, and anything else that has been delayed are now given the green light, so make sure you are prepared because news will be landing on your doorstep very soon. This is an opportune time to declare yourself and what you stand for. No more pussy-footing around and trying to protect the feelings of others, it has caused more trouble than it's worth and the truth will out in the end. Be prepared to do some explaining but do not back down. Be honest and direct and the outcome will be well worth the trouble. It is safe to be open-hearted with those who matter - they will appreciate knowing where they stand. If you have a creative project that has been delayed, whether by bureaucratic red tape or your own procrastination, then the period ahead is going to be like a breath of fresh air to you. You...
