The Knight of Cups is also known as the Lord of the Waves and the Water, and the King of the Hosts of the Sea. He is aligned with the masculine properties of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces and represents mastery of emotion and channeling of desires and wishes. Mastering your emotions is never an easy thing, and yet the Knight of Cups brings the ability to do just that. The Knights are about movement, and so there is an element here of the development of one's emotional nature towards a positive direction. Knights can be impetuous though, so the journey towards emotional wholeness can be fraught with ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies. The Knight of Cups carries the vision of the Grail, the romantic spirit of love and renewal embodied in the pursuit of a pure and sacred love. His sensitivity, artistic gifts and spiritual side represent the highest qualities of heartfelt inspiration and tenderness. Often this card signals the arrival of a love interest - the type that is romantic, sensitive and kind. This is love's promise at it's most intoxicating and compelling, where love exists for love's sake and won't be denied. It is the positive projection of the animus, the troubadour, the hero that slays the dragon to win the maiden fair. Arguably every romance novel that was ever written had this Knight as the protagonist. On a mundane level, this card brings the gifts of deepening intuition, artistic realisation and development, as well as a spiritual awakening that ignites the Soul to its true purpose. This is a journey of a different kind, rather than physical,...

Known also as the Lord of the Waves and the Water and King of the Hosts of the Sea, the Knight of Cups represents thoughtfulness and meaningful relationships. The Sea can be said to represent the vast Unconscious, and by its fluidity, the feeling nature. The seas and oceans of our world have variable depths, as do our emotions. In our oceans and our seas are shallows and depths, mermaids and shipwrecks. Pleasure and terror - like the unconscious depths of our own minds, so the oceans, seas and waterways of our world represent variable depths, danger, change, and variety. The Knights of the Tarot represent movement, and the Cups govern the domain of the heart and emotions. So when the Knight of Cups turns up for you, it means you are ready to move into a relationship, or to start relating to important people in your life in a different and meaningful, heart-felt way. He will inspire you to move towards change and adventures, as do all Knights - his adventures are adventures of the heart. This may be in the form of a romantic individual who appears and takes your breath away with his understanding and compassionate nature. There may be proposals or propositions that are tempting because they touch your heart. Whether such a person appears to you or not, it is time for you to contact your emotional nature, discover what it is that will give you deep emotional happiness and to fulfill your need for a loving bond. If it is not more love coming to you, then it will be something that satisfies...

The King of Cups is also the Prince of the Chariot of the Waters and has an affinity with the Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. He represents mastery of the emotional realm, spirituality, creativity and empathy. This King is quite unlike the other Kings in the Tarot - he is compassionate, fair, kind and aware. He understands the depths of despair and also the heights of true happiness. His ability to empathise with those who are in trouble and pain mean that he can often be found in the healing professions, or working in a spiritual capacity. The evolved King has transcended the need for petty emotions and dramas, and can teach you a lot about transcending your own. As a person he can be a calming influence and may arrive on the scene to provide emotional balancing and a detached perspective, which is hard for those of us who are caught up inside of an emotional storm. He can put things in perspective for you by a word or gesture that restores your faith in yourself and in others. Occasionally he may cause problems with his ability to detach emotionally from any situation he is in, and might give the impression of not being in touch with 'reality'. But just because your idea of reality and his don't match, does not mean that one is better than the other. It is just a different perspective on life and it is always worth considering others' perspectives since you can not know that yours is absolutely correct. By opening yourself up to other ways of looking at life and...

The King of Cups is also Prince of the Chariot of the Waters and is aligned with the Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. This King represents mastery of the emotional realm and has a well-developed intuitive side. He is not particularly demonstrative, rather his emotions are often well-concealed and yet as vast as the ocean, but make no mistake, he feels deeply. He is sensitive and so can easily take offence if he is not fully conscious or if he has been betrayed in the past. It is unfortunate that sometimes this King can hold on to past hurts and finds it difficult to forgive and move on, although when he has decided to heal such hurts as a necessity then he can be the most forgiving and open-hearted of all Kings with deep sincerity. When this King appears in a reading, it is time for you to learn the lessons of deep emotional maturity and generosity that will draw like-minded people to you and teach you which ones to avoid. He gives you a heightened sensitivity and intuition that allows you to navigate emotional waters skilfully and successfully and to also find deep emotional satisfaction. This King knows that emotional security starts from within – meditation, yoga, nature immersion are all useful pursuits that help to reconnect you to your feeling nature and build your intuition and spiritual connection with life. You may find experiences connected to healing, spirituality, teaching and art are all fields that are connected to this Ruler of Water. These pursuits help you connect to the deeper meaning of life and love,...

The King of Cups is known also as the Prince of the Chariot of the Waters and represents mastery of the emotional realm. This King is charismatic and powerful, with an appreciation of the feminine for which he provides an appreciative foil. His fluid nature makes him elusive especially where the emotions are concerned, and yet his ability to fathom the depths of his and others' emotional natures makes him enigmatic and irresistible. He is in touch with his intuitive side, which means that he has an uncanny knack of knowing what will work and who to trust with important decisions. He is a lateral thinker and will lead with his gut when tricky or conflicting matters need to be sorted out. When he is not in his right nature, he can be deceptive, tricky and elusive, and he will not be pinned down by conservative rules and morals, although he has a compassionate nature and will go in to bat for the underdog if his better nature is appealed to. On an abstract level, the King of Cups represents spiritual matters, the healing arts and cultural endeavours - those concepts which transcend the mundane reality and relate to the finer things of life - love, joy, art, philosophy. You see the King represents that part of us - and this applies to male and female alike - that sees the higher plane, the deeper questions that are asked, He is always holding out for and expecting the best in people and circumstances. His vision is of the heart and soul, and he demands that we rise to a...
